Dear Shakopee Rotary Club Members and Friends,

Happy Cool Rainy Friday. Thanks Sheila for filling in Tuesday as I was attending an Economic Development Conference in Austin,Texas. What a music city. Loved the downtown area and did not see one single cowboy hat in 5 days. Who would have thought.

Today kicks off Rotary International's World Polio Day awareness celebrations around the country. Tomorrow, our District 5950 will promote our End Polio Now campaign by lighting the I-35W Bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis and France Avenue near Southdale in Edina. Both will be lit in the End Polio Now colors of red and yellow, to bring awareness to Rotary's fight to end polio worldwide.

Our speakers on Tuesday were Keith Chellson and Amy Tasto from SAC. I have had the pleasure of knowing both of them from their work with Loaves and Fishes. Many of our Rotarians have worked with them also. They are two remarkable individuals. Our Club is going to begin a diaper drive for the organization. Please bring in disposable diapers to our next meeting. the sizes most needed are 4,5,6 and pull-ups. Please consider helping us donate more diapers than we can carry. Also, please consider a monetary donation to help out.

Our next meeting October 27 will feature our semi-annual auction, which raises funds for our Club operations. Everyone is to bring in an item for our wonderful auctioneers, Lee and Jim. It is always a fun time and a great way to help our Club.

For the meeting:
Greeters Table - Chuck Berg, Kathy Busch and Barb Danielson
Fine Master - Barb Danielson
Song Master - Kathy Klehr

I hope everyone has a great weekend and that everyone plans on donating a fantastic item for Tuesday's auction. Don't forget to bring your diapers....

John
