Happy Easter to all of you!

I hope the Easter Bunny was good to you today and that you all enjoyed the blessings of family and friends on this beautiful Easter Sunday.  The weather is supposed to continue to be pretty nice this week, so maybe we will finally break free of the Polar Vortex and have a real Spring too!

Last week we had a phenomenal speaker in Peter Vodenka. The Czech refugee who told of how he escaped Communistic rule with his young family in the early 80's. What a story! I am including his website if you want to learn more about him and where he is speaking in the future and his book. The website is http://www.journeyforfreedom.com.

This week we will have our annual celebration of reading at the high school as we hand out over 800 books to the first graders of Shakopee at the High School. We will meet at Dangerfield's for lunch and then head over about 12:40 to the high school,  where at 1:00 PM we will help to hand out the books and see the delight of these kids as they listen to some fun entertainment and music before we begin the handing out of books. If you have not attended this event before you are in for a real treat. If you would like to volunteer to help with this event earlier in the day at 10:30 they are gathering at the high school to help fill bags and set up, please see Barb Brekke. We will not have a Finemaster or Songmaster this week.  We may have checks to approve but other than that this will be our only business on Tuesday. I hope many of you can make it to help with the Shakopee Celebrates Reading event. The smiles will be many Tuesday.

REMINDER:  We are still collecting jars of jelly. Please bring your jars of jelly to the meeting.

Spring Play at the high school with Valerie Huber in a leading role. We have about 23 people attending on Friday, April 25 at 7 PM with a pre theater event at Joan Lynch's house before the play. If you are still interested in joining us please let me know by tomorrow, Monday so I can order the tickets. The price is $6 per ticket and I will collect the night of the event.

Bridging is Saturday, April 26. Please see Lee Hennen if you would like to volunteer for a shift. They will be collecting from 7:30AM to noon.

In Peace and Service,
Sheila McNeill
