Happy Sunday afternoon everyone!

As we head in to the middle of February and the week when "love is in the air," I hope you are all handling the continued cold weather and staying active. They say we burn more calories in cold weather, despite our being couch potatoes between watching basketball and now the Winter Olympics!
Last week Tim Whitcomb brought us a great speaker, Annie Young, an artist who became blind at age 37. She had a great story about fearlessness and turning your life around, and a life lesson from which we all could learn a great deal.  Thanks to Libby Bergen and Barb Danielson for bringing our students who won the essay contest awards for the Ethics Workshop this year. The three winners shared with us how much they enjoyed the workshop experience.

This week we are excited for our annual Valentines Lunch to be held out at America's Best Value Inn (location of Arizona's too). Your Valentines committee has been working hard to get prepared for this event and it should prove to be a great time for the "three F's", Fun, Fellowship and Food. Jim Conway, committee chair and his sidekick Dave Paradise, along with help from Linda Plum and myself will be awaiting your arrival to celebrate the upcoming holiday with your peers. Get ready for many laughs this year. You will be greeted again this week by Chuck Huss and Jim Conway, and they will take your $15(special for Valentines)at the door. Our Finemaster this week will be none other than "Miss Congeniality" herself, Barb Danielson. The Songmaster this week will be our own love-song (love-sick?) Crooner, Mark McNeill.

A special note of thanks this week to all the people who volunteered and filled up the time slots for Loaves and Fishes. I know Barb Brekke is grateful for the response and as always, Rotarians show the giving spirit of service to a community in need.

See you soon and have a great week.

In Peace and Service,

Sheila McNeill
President, 2013-14
