Happy Superbowl Sunday to all!

Today is the biggest excuse American's have to eat, drink and watch TV as millions will tune to the annual Superbowl game. The ads are as much or more of the entertainment on this day. Be sure to keep an eye out for the first ever local YMCA ad being aired between first and second quarters
Christ Kost and his peers will be proud of that one today. The "Yellow Man" will be featured in the M&M's ad which is the client of my daughter,  who currently is in New York covering the Superbowl for her other job,  in social media with NFL/United Way.

Last week, we welcomed the speakers, Sally Stockey and Laura Browers from the early childhood and parent literacy programs in Shakopee. We learned about their programs and the many good things they are doing to embrace literacy for not only our youngest children but their parents as well.
Thanks to Barb Brekke for arranging to have them speak to us.

This week, we  have a special treat I hear with the arrival of Annie Young, whom Tim Whitcomb will introduce. She is an artist who is blind and she will tell us her incredible story and we will get to see how she makes the world a better place through the medium of art. Along with Annie this week, we are excited to meet the three essay winners from the Ethics Workshop. Libby Bergen will be introducing the students to us and handing them their awards at our meeting. You will be greeted again this week by the duo of Conway and Huss. Our finemaster this week is the always happy guy, Joe Vaughan and Songmaster is a mystery at this point. Maybe we will learn of this skilled musician at the meeting?

REMINDERS: Tuesday, Feb. 11 Valentines Celebration at America's Best Value Inn/Arizona's. I will be passing the clipboard for signups. We have a great lunch planned and you are welcome to bring that "special someone" with you to the lunch that day. Please sign up!

Loaves and Fishes will be this Thursday, Feb. 6, two shifts, 3-5PM and 5-7PM. If you would like to donate your time, please see Barb Brekke. This is really a very worthwhile cause for our club to be involved, so please try to find some time to help if you can.

Until Tuesday then, stay warm!

In Peace and Service,

Sheila McNeill
President, 2013-14
